Scriptures Writing Plan For Lent 2023 - 40 Days Of Reflection

Updated: Jul 12

Welcome to the scripture writing/reading plan for Lent and Easter with some gorgeous printables for you to download! If this is your first time here, I'm so glad that you stopped by.

Lent begins this year on Wednesday the 22nd of February 2023 (Ash Wednesday). Easter is a significant and meaningful holiday for Christians all around the world. It is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope and redemption that it brings. While many of us prepare for Easter by buying chocolate eggs and bunnies, it is also essential to prepare our hearts for this holy occasion.

Why it's important to prepare your heart for a Christ-Centered Easter.

Do you ever feel prepared for a Christ-Centered Easter? A Christ-centered Easter sets a thankful heart within you as you reflect and consider what God did to restore us back to Him through Jesus and the cross.

See above for a poster you can print out and frame to remind you of what we gain from following Jesus and understanding the gifts we receive due to His death on the cross.

I didn't grow up in a home that practiced the tradition of observing Lent but my husband answered a late calling in life to become an Anglican Church minister and part of our liturgy is to follow the 40 days of Lent.

It doesn't matter what denomination you belong to, Lent is a good space of time to stop and reflect on Jesus- who He is, why He came into the world, and how He impacts your life. It is the perfect time to actively draw closer to Jesus and prepare your heart for a Christ-centered Easter.

What is Lent?

Lent is a time when you might fast from something you love but it is also a time for taking on something new, adding an activity that brings you closer to the Lord, something that deepens your faith in Jesus.

This scripture writing/reading plan would be perfect as a new activity to take on. Have you ever written out the scriptures before as part of your devotional time? It can take 10 - 15 minutes to write each day's appointed bible verse or verses. This month's plan has more bible verses assigned to each day than previous plans because there is so much truth to pack in! I have created more pages for you to use as you write out your scriptures, journal your thoughts, and write out any prayers that are on your heart.

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting, and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. Did you know that in the early church, Lent was a time to prepare new converts for baptism?

During the 40 days of Lent, we remember the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness enduring the temptation of Satan. Lent starts with Ash Wednesday and ends on the Saturday before Easter Sunday.

I have selected 43 bible verses for us to use in our devotional time. There are enough bible verses to get us through every day of Lent and to celebrate Easter Sunday. The bible verses have been selected from the Old Testament and the New Testament to help you reflect on who Jesus is, why He came to die on the cross, and to encourage you to draw closer to Him. Did you realize that the reason we needed Jesus to die on the cross was because of the events recorded in the book of Genesis? The events recorded in Genesis are the foundation on which the entire gospel is built. Everything Jesus did for us on the cross was done to restore the relationship that Adam lost at the beginning of time. We will be looking at bible verses from Genesis, the book of Joel, and the book of Isaiah, and then we will reflect on various bible verses from the Gospels and Revelation.
