Devotional: Use Your God-Given Gifts | 1 Peter 4:10.

Welcome to Day 24. for one of our short powerful devotions from the 30 Bible Verses About God's Amazing Grace, bible reading plan. This short devotional is based on 1 Peter 4:10.

Read 1 Peter 4:10.

1 Peter 4:10 Context

Peter the Apostle wrote this letter to encourage Christians in their daily lives. He gave them advice for everyday living, especially in the midst of hard times. He encouraged them to remember the hope that they have in Jesus. Peter encouraged Christians to develop godly lifestyles that are holy and pleasing to God.

Peter also called them to use their spiritual gifts and to be good stewards of their giftings from God.

Peter's words are for us too. We have been created by God to do extraordinary and unique things on this earth God has given us the ability to do. This will look different for each of us. We all have been given different God-given gifts so that we can bring God's glory to people and point them to Him.

Join me below as we discuss how to find your God-given gift, minister to others, and be Christ's ambassadors on earth.

Use Your God-Given Gifts Devotional:

Peter urges his readers to serve one another with their God-given gifts.

"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another."

When this verse is translated from Greek, it means to "wait" on one another, to attend to one another's needs. It means to minister to others.

How to find your God-given gift.

  1. Identify your own God-given gift. You know what you are good at. Take a self-evaluation and identify what you enjoy doing and that you are good at doing it. Some things that seem easy to do for you, may not be the same for others, and when you step into the gap and complete that task for a person that was so complicated for them to do, it truly blesses them.

  2. Pray! God created you and He is the one that has blessed you with His spiritual gifts. God has chosen you on purpose with a unique purpose that only you can do. Your gift looks good on you! So ask God to reveal any gifts that He has given you that you haven't noticed yet.

  3. Seek godly counsel from someone who knows you well. Your own Pastor or Pastor's wife or other members of your church will probably have already noticed your God-given gifts and will encourage you to use them. A few years ago before I was a Pastor's wife, I moved to a new church and I decided to keep a low profile. I did not want them to know that I could sing. I had previously served on a worship team and I didn't want to presume that they would need or desire to use my God-given talent. But those godly leaders spotted my talent straight away and made room for me on their worship team! Sometimes you just can't hide!

Use your gifts to serve others

God wants us to use our gifts and talents to bless others. He wants us to honor Him when we use those gifts.

So how can you use your gifts to bless others and build His kingdom at the same time?

How can you bring God's glory to the world around you and point them to Him?

Do you know why God gets the glory when we do what Peter advises us to do in 1 Peter 4:10?

Peter tells us to use our gifts well to serve one another and God gets the glory when we do this because it is God's powerful presence, His Holy Spirit living in us that gives us the strength and knowledge to do the task before us.
