Welcome to Day 6. for one of our short powerful devotions from the 30 Bible Verses About God's Amazing Grace, bible reading plan. This short devotional is based on Romans 11:6.
The Bible tells us that we are saved by grace.
What does it mean we are saved by grace through faith?
God’s Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are saved by grace alone and it takes our faith to secure it.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9.
We are saved by grace!
Grace alone means that God loves, forgives, and saves us not because of who we are or what we do, but because of the work that Jesus did on the cross. Our best efforts will never be good enough to earn salvation. But God declares us righteous once we activate our faith muscle and choose to believe that Jesus died on the cross and that His blood covers our sins.
We can only receive this grace through faith alone.
The Apostle Paul is clearly telling the believers in Rome that salvation is by grace and that salvation is nothing to do with work. Paul told us that since salvation is through God's kindness, and is given to us because of His amazing grace - then we have not received it by our good works - for had works played any part in our salvation then we would not have received salvation by God's grace.
Romans 11:6 meaning:
The Bible tells us that salvation has nothing to do with us. Salvation has nothing to do with our good works; our kind deeds or our generous nature.
It doesn't matter how often you go to church and it doesn't matter how much of your money that you tithe.
It doesn't even matter if you have been baptized as an infant, as an adult, or even if you have been baptized by water at all! (although it is a beautiful thing to publicly dedicate your child or yourself to God, it doesn't secure righteousness for you and me. That can only come from surrendering your life to God and choosing to believe that Jesus Christ purchased your righteousness, right there on the cross.)
The Bible tells us that salvation is by grace. Salvation has nothing to do with ourselves, it has nothing to do with rules, regulations, or laws that we try to keep. Salvation is by grace and it is a free gift from God to all who have believed in Jesus.
Being saved by grace means that we have received a gift from God that we do not deserve.
God’s grace is so amazing we may have trouble believing it’s true. That’s where faith comes in. Do you believe that God is as good as He says He is?
