20 Biblical Blessings To Pray For Others

Writer: Karen O'ReillyKaren O'Reilly

There is power in praying blessing scriptures over others - it’s a way to bring heaven into someone’s ordinary day. Blessing others through scripture is more than kind—it’s spiritual warfare in love’s clothing!

20 biblical blessings to pray for others

In early 2020, as the world shut down and uncertainty took hold, one song broke through the fear: The Blessing by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Elevation Worship. Rooted in Numbers 6:24–26, it echoed across the globe:

“May the Lord bless you and keep you… and give you peace.”

It became my anchor in the chaos—a prayer I clung to and began writing into Christmas cards, wedding cards, birthday wishes, and social media posts. It even found its way into a few scripture gifts in our shop at Scriptural Grace.

That verse reminded me—and others—that no matter how dark the season is, God’s blessing still rests on us, and He desires for us to use His Biblical Blessings To Pray For Others.

Biblical Blessings To Pray For Others

From Genesis to Revelation, we see something beautiful repeated again and again: God’s people speaking blessings over others. Fathers blessed their children, prophets blessed kings and nations, and Jesus Himself blessed His followers.

Why?

Because blessing isn’t just a kind word—it’s a powerful spiritual act.

When we pray biblical blessings over others, we align our hearts with God’s will. We invite His peace, favor, and protection to rest on someone else’s life. It’s a holy echo of the Father’s heart.

Let's talk about the Hebrew word for peace for a moment:

The Hebrew word for peace is shalom. Jesus Christ went to the cross to obtain 'shalom' for us. Strong's Dictionary defines shalom as "completeness, soundness, welfare, and peace." It represents completeness in number and safety and soundness in your physical body. Shalom also covers relationships with God and with people.

One of the most cherished blessing scriptures is Numbers 6:24–26—words God gave Moses to speak over Israel:

“The Lord bless you and keep you;The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

Even today, these words still carry comfort, strength, and hope.

And it’s not the only one.

Scripture is filled with “May” prayers—simple, powerful blessings you can speak over friends, family, or even strangers.

Here are 20 beautiful biblical blessing prayers from the Bible to uplift those you love. Pray them often over friends, family, strangers, and yourself!

You will find the scripture listed in the NIV Bible translation, linked to Bible Gateway, so you can read it in multiple Bible translations, followed by a scripture blessing prayer. There is a space for you to add the name of the person you pray for.

1. Blessings of God’s Presence and Peace

“May the Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray Your richest blessing over [Name] today. May You surround them with peace that calms every storm in their heart. Keep them emotionally steady, spiritually strong, and physically safe. Shine Your face upon them in every conversation, decision, and moment of doubt. Be gracious when they feel weak or unworthy. Turn Your face toward them with favor—at home, at work, in traffic, and in quiet moments. Fill them with a deep, lasting peace that anchors their soul. Amen.

“May the Lord give strength to His people; may the Lord bless His people with peace.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that You would strengthen [Name] today—body, mind, and soul. Give them endurance when the tasks feel too heavy, and fill their heart with courage in the face of uncertainty. May they feel Your peace covering them like a warm blanket, calming every anxious thought and restoring joy to their spirit. Let them walk in quiet confidence, knowing that You are their source of strength and rest. Amen.

May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that [Name] will be surrounded by Your peace today—the kind that calms storms, silences worry, and restores the soul. Whether they’re navigating tough conversations, full calendars, or quiet moments of loneliness, may they feel Your steady presence with them. Let peace guard their heart, guide their steps, and remind them that You are near. Amen.

"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.

The Lord be with all of you."

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace. I ask that You wrap [Name] in Your presence today. Give them peace in every way—in their hearts, minds, conversations, and responsibilities. Whether they’re facing stress, transition, or waiting, may Your calm carry them through. Be with them in the small and big moments, and let them rest in the unshakable truth that You are near. Amen.

2. Blessings of Strength and Endurance

"May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; May the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion."

Prayer: Lord, when [Name] feels overwhelmed or burdened, may You answer quickly and powerfully. Let them feel Your nearness when distress creeps in. Be their safe place, their shield, and their strong tower. Send help from heaven—through friends, encouragement, divine wisdom, and strength. Support them in ways they don’t expect, and remind them that You are their ever-present help in times of trouble. Amen.

“May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”

Prayer: Lord,  I lift up [Name] to You. May You guide their dreams and align their plans with Your perfect will. Give them clarity when making decisions and favor in every opportunity You place before them. Let the work of their hands prosper and may the desires You’ve planted in their heart begin to bloom. When delays or setbacks come, remind them that Your timing is always good. Amen.

3. Blessings of Joy and Hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Prayer: Lord, I ask that You fill [Name] with a deep and lasting joy that outshines their circumstances. Let Your peace settle into every corner of their life—into their thoughts, their schedule, and even their sleep. As they trust in You, may hope rise up within them like a well that never runs dry. Empower them by Your Spirit to be a source of hope and light to others, even on days that feel heavy. Let joy, peace, and hope overflow in every area of their life. Amen.

“May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.”

Prayer: Lord, I lift up [Name] and every tear they’ve sown in faith. For the quiet prayers they’ve whispered through pain, the sacrifices they’ve made in love, and the battles they’ve fought in secret—may You now bring a harvest of joy. Turn mourning into dancing, and let songs of praise rise from the places that once felt barren. Let them see the beauty You’re bringing out of their brokenness. Amen.

4. Blessings of Wisdom and Guidance

“May Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your decrees.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that [Name] would live in the light of Your favor. Let them sense Your smile over their life—when they rise in the morning, when they work, when they rest. Teach them Your ways, not just in mind but in heart. Help them understand Your Word clearly and walk in it confidently. May they grow in wisdom, discernment, and joy as they follow Your voice. Amen.

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure

and blameless for the day of Christ.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that [Name] will grow in a deep and wise love. May they feel compassion and walk with insight and understanding in every relationship and decision. Fill their heart with discernment to choose what is best, not just what is easy. Help them walk in integrity and purity, shining with Your grace as they prepare for all You’ve called them to. Amen.

5. Blessings of Protection and Safety

“May the Lord keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; May the Lord watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that You would cover [Name] with Your divine protection. Keep them safe from harm—whether physical danger, emotional wounds, or spiritual attack. Watch over them as they come and go—on the road, at work, at home, in every space they step into. Surround them with Your peace and guide their steps with care. May they rest in the confidence that You are always watching over their life, now and forever. Amen.

“Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers; may You keep me safe from the violent.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that You would be a shield around [Name] today. Keep them safe from harmful words, unjust actions, or toxic influences. Rescue them from anyone who seeks to cause confusion, fear, or harm. Let Your presence go before them, surround them, and guard their heart and mind. May they walk in peace and courage, knowing You are their defender and strong tower. Amen.

6. Blessings of Provision and Abundance

“May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that You would cause [Name] to flourish in every good thing. Bless the work of their hands, the relationships they nurture, and the faith they carry. May Your favor rest not only on them but also on their children and future generations. Let Your faithfulness mark their legacy. May they know that every blessing comes from You—the Maker of heaven and earth—and walk in gratitude and confidence because of it. Amen.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that You will supply [Name] with everything they need—emotionally, spiritually, physically, and financially. Where there is lack, bring abundance. Where there is worry, bring peace. Let them see Your faithfulness in the details: the bills paid, the food on the table, the strength to get through the day. May they walk confidently, knowing that You care for every need and are more than enough. Amen.

“May you be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. May the fruit of your womb be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock…May you be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.”

Prayer: Lord, I declare Your blessing over [Name]—in every place and every part of their day. Bless them in their home and workplace, in their errands and quiet moments. Let everything they put their hand to prosper—whether it’s work, relationships, ministry, or family. Let their life be full of the evidence of Your favor. May they walk with the confidence that they are blessed coming in and going out, and that Your provision is already at work all around them. Amen.

7. Blessings of Spiritual Growth and Faithfulness

“May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen

you in every good deed and word.”

Prayer: Jesus, our source of eternal encouragement, I pray that You would lift and steady [Name] today. When their heart or hands grow weary, strengthen them with fresh grace. Remind them that their work—every kind word, every quiet sacrifice—matters. Fill their soul with hope that cannot be shaken. Encourage them from the inside out and empower them to keep doing good with joy. Amen.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that [Name] would walk closely with You day by day. Let their faith grow deep roots that hold steady in every season. Build them up with courage, wisdom, and truth. Strengthen their belief when doubts try to creep in. And let their heart overflow with thankfulness—not just for the big moments, but for every breath, every blessing, and every reminder of Your goodness. Amen.

“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Prayer: I ask that You equip [Name] with everything they need to live out Your will today. Strengthen their hands for the work ahead, and guide their heart toward what pleases You most. In every role they carry—parent, friend, worker, servant—fill them with wisdom, grace, and perseverance. May they feel Your peace as they follow Your lead, and may their life bring glory to Jesus in all they do. Amen.

8. Blessing of Trust and Stability in God

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that [Name] would put their complete trust in You and find strength in Your presence. Help them to be like a tree planted by water—deeply rooted in Your Word and nourished by Your Spirit. When life gets complicated or uncertain, keep them steady. May they continue to grow, even in difficult seasons, and bear fruit that blesses others. Fill them with lasting confidence in Your faithfulness. Amen.

9. Blessing of the Lord as Shepherd and Provider

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that [Name] would know You as their Good Shepherd every day of their life. Provide what they need and lead them to places of rest and peace. Restore what feels weary or worn out in their heart. Guide them clearly when the path seems uncertain. Even in dark or fearful moments, remind them they’re never alone—You are with them, comforting and protecting. Let their life overflow with Your blessings. May Your goodness and love follow them every step, and may they dwell in Your presence all their days. Amen.
